Looking towards the open sea inspires within us a sense of delight. Indeed, our ocean resources provide us not only with material sustenance, but also a sense of well being within our lives. As great opportunities become available for people to enjoy our water resources it becomes vitally important to promote sound leisure activities, while ensuring boating safety and the protection of our marine environment.

To achieve these objectives, the Japan Craft Inspection Organization (JCI) conducts the following activities.

- Provide craft safety inspection based on the Ship Safety Law

- Provide craft registration based on the Craft Registration Law

At present(2016), the number of craft in Japan which are inspected by JCI is about 342,000. We believe that JCI will continue to keep playing an important role in facilitating sound marine leisure activities in Japan.
